#citylocal Sustaining Local Journalism conference | a storify

The Student and The Chancer were at the #citylocal event on Friday, which brought together a host of influential hyperlocal journalists and a range of opinions about the way to sustain local news in the future.

The main clash of values was between Will Perrin, of the Kings Cross Environment blog, who said that local news should be citizen-led and done without the hindrance of revenue and Rick Waghorn, whose local ad sales platform Addiply allow users to monetise their site in a way that suited them.

We live-blogged the event, which was jointly sponsored by the European Journalism Training Association and the Department of Journalism at City University, and have produced a storify which you can read below.
