The Wannabe Hacks nominate their best journalism placement for our top 50
Wannabe Hacks have launched their quest to find the top 50 journalism placements in the world and are asking YOU to nominate your best internship or stint of work experience.
Here the Hacks reveal their top placements and why they found them so useful:
Southwark News | 1 week | unpaid
You get thrown in at the deep end at one of London’s few independent weekly newspapers. On your feet for most of the week you will interview, photograph, research and write. Great feedback and direction offered as well.
Men’s Health | 1 week | expenses
Men’s Health has to be one of the most relaxed offices I’ve ever worked in – it’s a haven of fashion, fitness and man-banter. The boys do love a good brew now and again, but you’ll still be writing valuable bylines.
The Forester | 1 week | unpaid
Working in a small team I was involved from day one, writing and researching articles, checking facts and subbing copy. I felt needed in the office and got on well with the team who took the time to chat to me and offer their advice.
NYLON | 3 months | unpaid
Like the rest of NYC, NYLON relies on its interns. What I lacked in pay, I gained in education and experience. The level of responsibility given to interns is a credit to the magazine, and while the bylines were fantastic, the memories were better.
